Director, Building and Construction Policy, NSW Department of Customer Service
Angus Abadee is the Director of Building and Construction Policy at the NSW Department of Customer Service where he is responsible for the design and implementation of the NSW Government’s reform agenda across the building industry. Before taking up this role in July 2020, Angus has served as the Director, Safer Communities at the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, Director of Policy & Legislation at Liquor & Gaming NSW, as well as roles at the NSW Department of Justice, advising on criminal law policy, and the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, advising on Indigenous and constitutional law policy.

Sedgwick Manager – Building Consultancy Division
Paul has over 20 years’ experience in the building & construction industry. He joined Sedgwick in 2021 where he oversees the national building consultancy team comprising frontline technical staff undertaking forensic investigations and leading the case management team in administering home owners warranty and general property claims on behalf of government and private clients. During his 15 years with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission, Paul held positions as Regional Manager and Director Regional Services where he managed multi-disciplinary teams responsible for service delivery, technical building investigations across domestic and commercial construction, administration of the home warranty insurance scheme, compliance investigations and contractor licensing.

Tim Reardon Tim Reardon
Chief Economist, Housing Industry Association (HIA)
Tim Reardon joined HIA as the Chief Economist in 2017, heading up the HIA Economics. Tim held roles such as: Executive Director Government Relations, Executive Director Tasmania. During this time a builders licensing regime was introduced including reforms to home owners warranty and HIA warded off an increase in energy efficiency standards in new homes.

Bronwyn Weir Bronwyn Weir
Director, Weir Legal and Consulting
Bronwyn specialises in advising government regulators and best known for her expertise in building regulation. In 2017 she co-authored the Building Confidence Report which was commissioned by Australia’s nine Building Ministers. Since this time Bronwyn has advised the Victoria, NSW, Queensland and WA governments and the Department of Defence on building regulatory matters. Bronwyn speaks regularly at industry events and conferences.

Brian Seidler Brian Seidler
Executive Director, Master Builders Association of NSW
Brian joined the Master Builders Association (MBA) as a trainee industrial relations officer in the early 1980s. In 2000 he was appointed the Executive Director. Throughout his career at MBA he has represented the industry and Master Builders on numerous committees and boards, including: Director CBUS Superannuation 1994 – 1999; Director Australian Construction Industry Redundancy Fund (ACIRT) June 1996 - Present; Building Workers Assistance Centre (BWAC); Mates in Construction (suicide prevention program); NSW Building and Construction Industry Long Service Payments Committee; NSW Council for Women, Board Member; Mates in Construction NSW, Board Member; National Labour Consultative Council; NSW Government Construction Industry Advisory Group; TAFE – South Western Sydney Institute Advisory Council; Guest Lecturer, University of NSW, School of the Built Environment. Brian is a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).

James McIntosh James McIntosh
Sedgwick National Manager - Technical Services
James' background is in building and construction and has transferred that knowledge to specialise in the field of Home Warranty Insurance. James has developed models of claims quantification for defects and non-completion claims made under the home warranty schemes across Australia and in particular supports industry responds quickly to Builder liquidations. Currently James is working with a network of Builders and Consultants to complete some 300+ residential projects abandoned by Pivotal and Oracle Homes.

Engineering Manager ANZ, Pryda
Ian Hayward is the Engineering Manager at Pryda. With 20 years at Pryda, he has witnessed the progressive digitisation of frame and truss design. Ian spends more time with his head in Pryda Build software, developing briefs and tweaking software functions to help designers do their jobs more efficiently.
